socialservices2.gifPresbyterian Social Services: made up of several individual ministries including chaplaincy, children's work, student residences, a children's hospital and recycling and retail outlets.

Basically, the Social Services Committee is responsible for the social and community services of the Presbyterian Church of NSW. It coordinates the Church’s social service activities, informs the Church of social service needs within the community, undertakes and implements programs and services to meet social service needs as authorised by the General Assembly, monitors their effectiveness and publicises its work.

 

Programs include:

  • Childcare and preschool
  • Welfare and relief activities
  • Chaplaincy work in hospitals, jails and in industry
  • Counselling
  • Allowah Presbyterian Children’s Hospital
  • Child Protection Unit
  • Presbyterian Students Residence


PSS can raise funds to finance its programs and activities and manage and administer properties at which it conducts its activities.

The PSS Committee comprises three ministers, three Elders and three communicant members of the Church.
