MESSAGE TO ALL NSW MINISTERS, HOME MISSIONARIES, SESSION CLERKS, TREASURERS, COM SECRETARIES AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS
Dear all,
Just over one year after restrictions were first imposed by NSW Health (our first COVID-19 Update was dated 5 March 2020) we are able to raise our voices in song and praise to our Lord.
As many will be aware, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has today announced the easing of COVID restrictions from next Monday morning 29 March, including:
- no caps on weddings and funerals
- no restrictions on singing including in places of worship
- no restriction on dancing including at weddings
- no cap on visitors in the home
- all churches to move to the one person per 2sqm rule (churches will be allowed at least 25 people before the 2sqm rule applies)
But, please note that churches must continue to ensure they keep accurate records of all attendances, including through QR Codes, to enable fast contact tracing in the event of any community transmission.
These changes relate only to churches in New South Wales, and our colleagues in the ACT will need to continue to refer to ACT Government Public Health directions.
Please do not hesitate to contact us in Church Offices should you have any questions or require assistance in interpreting the restrictions to your local circumstances.
We pray that this may the last if not one of the last emails to all congregations on COVID restrictions. Should this be the case, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all ministers, elders, musicians and other pastoral workers in adapting to the constantly changing restrictions over the past twelve months.
It has been a trying time for all members of the Church and we praise our Lord that, through vaccinations, worship services, weddings and funerals will return to pre-COVID normal.
Grace and peace,
Jeof Falls and Andrew Campbell (Moderator NSW)
